Technical Report: Estimating Global In-Country Supply Chain Costs of Meeting the MDGs

This concept note outlines a costing model, cites available information sources, and identifies data gaps for estimating globally the country supply chain costs to meet the Millennium Development Goals by 2015. Using available information, we develop an approach for estimating the variable costs for country distribution costs based on a series of assumptions. We also propose a tool and approach to validate these assumptions and develop an approach for estimating the capital costs required to handle the expected increase in volume of commodities as MDG targets are met.
