In some PMI-partner countries, data collected over the years has revealed discrepancies between the quantity of malaria commodities consumed and the number of malaria services provided, causing malaria programs and partners to have concerns about commodity accountability.
To support countries in addressing this issue, the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), through the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program-Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project, has developed the Malaria Commodity Accountability Initiative (MCAI) tool and accompanying guidebook. These materials are intended to help countries identify these discrepancies and provide a methodology for determining and addressing the root causes of those discrepancies.
